Instructions
Cooking Directions: 1. Stir grits and salt into boiling water; return to a boil. 2. Cover; reduce heat to low. 3. Cook three to five minutes, stirring occasionally. 4. Serve hot. Add butter and/or cheese to taste. *For a delicious variation use chicken broth or milk instead of water for cooking. Microwave Directions: For 1 serving: Combine 1-1/3 cups water and 1/8 teaspoon salt with 1/3 cup Dixie Lily Yellow Corn Grits in a 1-quart bowl. Microwave on high for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Let stand until desired consistency. 1/2 Serving: 3/4 cup boiling water; 3 tbs grits; dash of salt (optional); 3/4 cup yield. 1 Serving: 1-1/3 cups boiling water; 1/3 cup grits; 1/8 tsp salt (optional); 1-1/3 cups yield. 4 Servings: 5-1/3 cups boiling water; 1-1/3 cups grits; 1/2 tsp salt (optional); 5-1/3 cups yield. 6 Servings: 8 cups boiling water; 2 cups grits; 3/4 tsp salt (optional); 8 cups yield. * For thinner grits, add water. For thicker, creamier grits, cook longer.
