Quickles
Once you realize how easy it is to make your own pickles, and how fresh and bright the flavors are, you may never buy store-bought again.
Ingredients
- 4-6 Pickling Cucumbers (Or 1 English Cucumber), In 1/4 Inch Slices
- 1/2 Red Onion, Thinly Sliced
- 3 Garlic Cloves, Peeled And Thinly Sliced
- 1 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1/2 Cup White Vinegar
- 3 Cups Water
- 1/3 Cup Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Salt
- 3 Bay Leaves
- 3/4 Teaspoons Turmeric
- Additional Herbs And Spices, Such As Dill And Mustard Seed (Optional)

- 4-6 Pickling Cucumbers (Or 1 English Cucumber), In 1/4 Inch Slices
Directions
Place cucumber and onion in heat-proof bowl or jars. In large pot over high heat, simmer garlic, water and remaining ingredients. Pour liquid over cucumbers and onions, ensuring they are completely covered. Let cool to room temperature then place in refrigerator for storage until ready to enjoy. NOTE : For some heat in your pickles, simmer jalapeño (with holes poked in it) in liquid and add to bowl.
