Instructions

Rinsing: Place rice into a mixing bowl. Add cool water, swirl rice, drain off and repeat until water runs clear. Optional: For a more authentic method, add cool water to cover rice by one inch after rinsing and soak for 30 minutes. Cooking Directions on the Stove: 1 Cup Rice: 1-1/2 cups water; 3 cups yield; 4 servings (3/4 cup cooked). 2 Cup Rice: 3 cups water; 6 cups yield; 8 servings (3/4 cup cooked). Optional: For drier rice use 1/4 cup less. For moister rice, use 1/4 cup more water. 1. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil. Stir in rice. 2. Cover. Reduce heat to a low simmer for 15 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed. Cooking Directions in the Microwave: 1. In a large microwave-safe dish with vented lid, combine 1-1/2 cups water and 1 cup rice. 2. Cover and microwave on Medium-High (70%) for 10-12 minutes. Let rest covered for 10 minutes. It is recommended that only 1 cup rice be prepared in the microwave at a time. Microwave ovens vary. Cooking times are approximate.
