Mac & Cheese Soup
Cheese soup and mac and cheese, made with Sargento® Block Sharp Cheddar-Jack Natural Cheese, are fabulous on their own. This recipe combines both to create a rich and creamy soup. Chopped chives add a mild onion flavor that goes great with this cheesalicious soup.
Ingredients
- 3 cups reduced sodium chicken broth
- 2 cups half and half
- 1 cup uncooked macaroni
- 4 ozs. cream cheese
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 8 oz Sargento® Block Sharp Cheddar Natural Cheese
- 2 tsp. fresh chives, chopped, optional
Directions
In a large saucepan combine chicken broth and half and half. Bring to a simmer. Stir in macaroni. Cook over medium-low heat for 15 minutes or until pasta is al dente. Stir in cream cheese, garlic powder, pepper, and 3/4 of cheese. Cook on low, stirring often until thickened and creamy. Ladle into bowls. Top with remaining cheese and chopped chives. Serve.
