Instructions

Safe Handling Instructions: This product was prepared from inspected and passed meat and/or poultry. Some food products may contain bacteria that could cause illness if the product is mishandled or cooked improperly. For your protection, follow these safe handling instructions. Keep refrigerated or frozen. Thaw in refrigerator or microwave. Keep raw meat and poultry separate from other foods. Wash working surfaces (including cutting boards), utensils and hands after touching raw meat or poultry. Cook thoroughly. Keep hot foods hot. Refrigerate leftovers immediately or discard. Cook thoroughly. Cooking Instructions: Cook Smithfield Fresh Pork until tender, or 200 degrees F for pulled pork. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Cook to a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees F as measured by a food thermometer. If additional flavor and browning is desired, sear meat on all sides in a pan over medium-high heat prior to following the directions below. Oven: Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Place pork in a Dutch oven or a covered roasting pan. Pour one inch of water into the bottom of the dish. Roast, covered, for 2 to 2-1/2 hours. Use tongs or metal utensils to pull pork in the baking dish and mix with juices. Slow Cooker: Place roast in 4-to 6-quart slow cooker. Pour 1/2 cup water into pot. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours (High: 4 to 6 hours). Use tongs or metal utensils to pull pork in slow cooker and mix with juices. Keep refrigerated.
